Density meters and refractometers
Density and refractive index –
simultaneously or one at a time
The days of manual determinations with pycnometers, hydrometers or optical Abbe refractometers
belong to the past. The METTLER TOLEDO digital instruments determine density and refractive in-
dex simply, with great accuracy and, depending on the instrument, even simultaneously. Automatic
conversion of the results to user-dened units allows the instruments to be used for special applica-
tions. The built-in Peltier thermostat ensures that the sample temperature is accurately controlled
– no need for water baths.
Density and refractive index
One measurement – two param-
eters! The METTLER TOLEDO DR40/45
Combined Meters simplify something
commonplace in many industries: The
simultaneous determination of density
and refractive index. Measuring both val-
ues with the same instrument increases
speed, simplies procedures and en-
hances the accuracy of the results.
In many industries (e.g. petrochemical
or avors and fragrances) the deter-
mination of both values is already a
standard method. In other industries, the
simultaneous determination of density
and refractive index is used to determine
concentrations in multi-component
mixtures. That’s no problem for the DR
Combined Meters – besides the density
and refractive index, they can also cal-
culate up to two results from the density,
the refractive index or from both results
using formulas or concentration tables
previously entered.
